Quote from: Changy on April 21, 2026, 06:07:05 PMThanks, Mick. The client brought the mower back this afternoon, and I did a quick test. I couldn't find a tilt sensor. It seems that the switch is sensitive, and as soon as you move the machine, it breaks the contact. I will investigate further tomorrow, as I was busy today.

I will say the design and quality do not impress me, especially given the high price.

Glad you found the issue.  Yeah must admit they don't do much for me either, like a lot of this stuff it's sold on the name.

Hi Changy.

I've not experienced this issue myself.  Any warning lights or error code lights flashing?

Also, I suspect there is a tilt switch on the machine to prevent it working if tipped up or working on too steep a slope etc, so wonder if that has something to do with it. Not sure if it has one or if it's separate to the main controller if I'm being honest, but if it's come loose and sitting at the wrong angle it could explain the issue.

Unfortunately I left the main dealership a while back to work for myself, and no longer have access to STIHL technical info.

A client brought in his STIHL battery mower because the trigger switch was broken. I opened the control box, replaced the switch and tested the machine. It's fiddly to replace the switch, but I have determined the easiest way.

The client phoned today and said the mower runs for only 10 seconds before cutting out. If he puts the mower down safely on its side, it runs fine. On a hard surface with no grass to cut, it will not run.

It is my first STIHL battery mower, so I'm rather stumped.

The batteries are charged, so I am wondering if there is a torque issue with the motor.

I would appreciate any insight from others.

Turned out it was the second option, the key had fallen out, so I made a new one, all fixed now.

Cool, that's a result then.  Happy mowing.

I'm assuming it was all working fine before starting it up today?

A couple of initial thoughts.

Have you had either of the rear wheels off to fix a puncture or something, if so you might have lost the key between wheel and shaft.

Drive belt might have come off or snapped.

Hello
I have a Racing 6224PR-2 ride on mower.
Today i started it up in order to do a complete mow of all my bits of lawn.
However, with the clutch disengaged and moving the gear lever to any of it's positions i cannot get any forward or reverse drive.
I have jacked up the rear end with no change, all linkages seem to be correct.
Any advice?
