Countax C300H oil with leak

Evening all,

I've got green fingers and am fairly handy around garden machinery and run an orchard and smallholding.

I picked up a Countax C300H at the weekend that's leaking oil fairly freely from beneath the engine onto the belt pulleys so am looking for any parts diagrams and workshop information on changing that seal.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Andy, and welcome to TGMForum.

Assuming it has a Honda GCV530 v twin on it. If so I think this is the bottom oil seal, https://www.gardenhirespares.co.uk/hp91202-z0a-003-genuine-honda-oil-seal-31x50x8-91202-z0a-003.html

Are you sure the leak is coming from the seal and not somewhere else?  They have a habit of leaking around the oil drain, and that creeps under the engine etc.

I'm not familiar with the engine, Mick, but will have a look at it tomorrow with a degreaser, then diagnosing the source will be easier. Thanks

Well, I found the oil drain, Mick, and wondered what happened when I turned it  :D I learned fast!

Now, it ran for an hour on Sunday and chipped a steady pile of willow nicely. When I go to use it this morning after adding half a gallon of petrol it started hunting and stalled. I'm guessing one of the main jets is blocked, and given it's age and unknown service history, probably deserves a carb strip down and clean. The fuel tank is spotless.

Also I've looked high and low all over the Internet for literally hours for an operator's manual for the 2004/5 Westwood chipper/shredder to no avail, though i do have a parts diagram. What deflection should the PTO drive belt have to the chipper? I was reckoning on about 3/4".

Thank you for your help.

Did it come off in your hand. lol.. They were supposed to be like a bayonet action, 1/4 twist then pull back to let the oil out.  After they get old they can come right off when you pull back.

The fuel, make sure you have good flow out of the fuel line, those tanks have a outlet like a tiny funnel in the bottom, and a seed or insect could have gone down and blocked it.

The belt for the shredder I have to hold my hand up and say I have no clue, it's been a long time since I've even seen one of those. Sorry.  Maybe the countax group on facebook can help with this. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1143907236785561/
