Hi

Thanks for allowing me to join this forum


I am new Mountfield owner and I have an issue where the handbrake doesn't stop the mower from moving.

I've been trying to find where I can tension this without success. So it would be great if anyone could guide me

Also it would be good to just clarify that it is correct the mower will cut out when leaving the seat even with the blades disengaged and the handbrake on with it in neutral. To me it seems it should allow it to keep running in this situation - but it doesn't. This is quite annoying when I'm doing small jobs with a trailer.

Any help and guidance would be much appreciated.

Unfortunately I have no experience with this particular machine.  I was holding back on responding in the hope that someone else would help you with this. Sorry.

The brake is best adjusted where the disc sits on the shaft coming from transmission. Remove the split pin and tighten the nut a little at a time until brake holds. Make sure the disc still moves when the brake is off (i.e. not binding)

And. yes, the safety cutouts do not allow the engine to keep running whe the operator is off the seat even if the brake is engaged. This is common with most newer ride on mowers.

Yep the modern stuff has gone crazy with safety cutouts everywhere nowadays.
