On the bench today is a Stihl 200t. New intake and new top handle.. still not running needs the carb looking at.

Mick, did you change the Top handle as an assembly or did you just buy the parts.  I used to rebuild them but now tend to change the whole thing. Saves a lot of time and faffing about.

Pulse hose has a habit of falling off behind the handle housing.

Hi - newbie here. I'm desperately trying to keep my old 1988 Hayter Harrier 48 alive! I inherited it off my grandad who died in 1995 and I've been nursing it since then but think I might have reached the end of the road.

Runs beautifully but the governor spring perished and the replacement (bought off eBay using the engine number) doesn't seem to be doing the job - it's really slack. Also, I can't see where the smaller of the two springs is meant to connect to (if it needs one). When I start the engine it revs through the roof and I have to shut it down.

Any tips gratefully received.

I have also added a new YouTube channel to run along with this site, and added some of the machines from this topic. You can find it here, https://www.youtube.com/@TGMForum

Hi Reg596, and welcome to TGMF.

The throttle link is bent to the wrong shape for sure. The rearward one.

I have a old engine around here somewhere, if I can grab a photo of it I'll post it up so you can compare.

Also, do you still have the engine model number to hand?
