Would it be helpful if users shared their owner and workshop manuals?

I have the workshop manual for the Mountfield 725M ride-on, which has a lot of helpful information.

@Mick is there a way to share them?

Mick

As much as I'd love to share this sort of stuff, I do have to be careful with redistribution of copyrighted material.  There's nothing stopping anyone sharing stuff one to one via PM though.

I did check the manual, and I don't see anything about copyright. I contacted Stiga, and they freely supplied it. I will check again.

Thing is they are allowed to give it to you or do what they wish with it because they own it. But things can get messy when others start redistributing other peoples content without permission.

I'd love to have a section in our downloads on here, our portal does have a system for that, but I'm very nervous about the legal stuff involved.  For this reason I tend to point people to the various info on the web if I can find it for them.

I understand it is not worth the risk.

If someone was to upload the manual online to one of the many free hosts, would there be anything to stop a random user sharing a link to it here on the forum?

Mick

Rach, linking to files which are on public view on the web is fine because anyone can view them.  Though they could get into trouble for hosting them.

Would it be possible for you to send me a pdf of the manual.
I have just bought a 725 and have a few problems with the steering.
If not do you have a link to a source?
Thanks
Robin

Hi Robin, and welcome to TGMF.

Is that a Mountfield 725?  If yes there's a few online parts lists for it like this one for the steering, https://www.diyspareparts.com/parts/mountfield/diagrams/2687a59e-a49a-46bf-ba3d/ddd81ec0-3f78-408a-806a/

And the main parts lists for the 725M https://www.diyspareparts.com/parts/mountfield/fits/725m/

Hi Mick
Thanks for that.
I would still like to get hold of a workshop manual if at all possible.

Mick

I'm not sure there is a workshop manual for this machine, they are not as common as they used to be, and probably if there is any service data info would only be available to their service dealers.
