Hi Mick,

I hope you are keeping well  :) ?

I also hope that you are not being inconvenienced by all the muppets that have panic bought fuel.

I know that you are the go to man when it comes to Weibang Legacy pro 56 mowers. Do you know if the two gears inside the rear cylinders are press fit onto the centre bearing carrier?

Kind regards

Kevin

Mick

You mean the two ratchet gears in the middle of the roller shaft?

These are a loose push it in the roller half's but are held on to the ratchet hub via a circlip.  The bearings inside these gears are a press fit.  I haven't ever replaced those bearings so noot sure exactly how tight they are.  I've only ever removed the gears from the ratchet assy to free off and lube the ratchet plungers and springs, or to replace a broken shaft as in the links below.  ;)

Thanks for your reply Mick,

The bearings on this machine are pretty worn and I have managed to get them off the carrier. Unfortunately the casting at one end of the bearing carrier has been damaged (not by me, I think this occurred when the shaft snapped) and so I have opted to replace the whole carrier assembly as a complete unit.

Weibang now supply a rather cheap looking nylon cover/boot that is supposed to protect the outer roller bearings from being damaged by debris ingress.
