Hi all I was wondering if anyone can help me please. So I have a cobra multi tool using string trimmer attachment runs fine but the hedge cutter attachment acts werid, when it's tilted sideways the engine seems to have a burst of rpm for a couple seconds any ideas what might be causing it. Thanks

Mick

Hi Yorkshiremike, and welcome to TGMForum.

When you say it has a burst of RPM, does it seem to lose drive at the same time, or does it just seem to affect the engine only?

Thanks.  Reason I asked was the Cobra hedge cutters as standalone units were notorious for losing drive in the gearboxes, they were so bad I refused to repair them in the end.  I realise yours is a combi attachment version so they could well be different from the standalone units.

Does it sound like it's disconnecting from the engine, like hitting a neutral in your car.  Or is the engine just changing the way it runs due to fuel delivery at different angles. The fuel pickup in the tank must be able to move around and sit in the fuel at all angles when hedge trimming, whereas when strimming it really just sits on the bottom of the tank.

Yeah it does sound like a car going in neutral but only for a second it also does it when tank is full off fuel.

Mick

Yeah I'm wondering if the gearbox is slipping, but it's a job to tell without seeing and hearing it.  Do you have a YouTube account where you could post a clip of it?
