Hi all. I am a newcomer on here and have been given a Hayter Hobby 41. It is fitted with the Tecumsah BV153 engine. Is there a good diagram anywhere showing the layout of the throttle and governor linkage please as, yes, I have disassembled to clean out the carb and cannot remember where these went. Many thanks, Graham

Hi all. I have a Hayter Hobby 41 mower with the Tecumsah BV153 engine. Can anyone point me in the direction of a diagram to show the throttle and governor linkage assembly please and also a starting point re adjustment screws to get the mower going again. I was given the mower as a non starter so removed the carb and cleaned it all out. Many thanks, Graham  >:(  :hmm:  :hmm:

Hi Graham, and welcome to TGMForum.

I will see if I can find some sort of diagram for you.  But I can tell you that the rod without the spring goes from throttle shaft on carburettor to top hole on the governor arm at the back of engine. And the other short rod with governor spring goes in hole on control pate and under the other rod to a hole lower down in the governor arm.

It's quite a tricky one to explain clearly, or even show in a picture, but until I find a better example see if you can work out how it goes from what I mentioned above and this image below.

No problem, let me know how you get on with it.  ;)

Thanks Mick.I have a pic of what I have done and it seems to be the same although havnt reassembled and started it yet

Graham, that looks right to me. Only thing is the governor spring is usually found in the third hole down in the governor arm whereas you have it in the second hole.  You might find it revs a little high like that.  ;)

I swapped the spring into the second hole like you said.It fired up first time and runs ok Mick and all grass cut with no problem. The only thing is I think the carb needs a tweek as it has a tendency to hunt when running at low revs. Thanks again for your really useful advice and help.Graham

That's a result then, glad to hear it.

You should see a adjuster screw on the very side of the carb, give that a 1/4 turn anti clockwise it might help the hunting. And tweak from there.  ;)
