Just over a year ago, I bought a brand new Fox 510e lawn mower. This has a wolf engine.  now need a new starter motor. But where do you find spares for this machine. There is nothing to be found on the internet. HELP!!!

Mick

Hi nubsey, and welcome to TGMForum.

Where did you buy it from?  They might be able to hook you up with a phone number for product support. I believe B&Q sell them, or at least did at some point.

I have no idea where to get parts from for those unfortunately, though looking at the machine I'm betting it's the same Chinese engine that's fitted on many other brands out there.

Are you sure the starter motor has actually failed?

Hi Mick, Yes the starting switch has failed, so I managed to find a push button switch that will do the job. I then test on my theory by joining the two wires and bypassing the switch. Held for a brief while and nothing happened. Then the wires got hot. Burny Burny fingers.
The starter motor is shorting out. I disconnected the wire to the motor, and connected a car battery. Sparks everywhere, but no motor turning over. I have yet to get the motor out and strip it. The people I bought it from, are just box sellers. Also there phone number does not work. Ho Hum.

Mick

Thanks.  Yes unfortunately it's quite a common problem getting the correct parts for these type of machines.  I'm guessing though that the starter motor will be the same as used on the COBRA, HYUNDAI with the Chinese engine etc, but it's an expensive gamble to find out.

With any luck you might find and fix the problem when you get the motor stripped. Keep us posted if you make any progress.
