Mountfield 1640H Steering Wheel Removal

Hi, I have a 1640H model Mower. The steering wheel has a lot of play on the shaft. I see there is a slot at the bottom of the steering wheel boss, which I assume is to access the fixing. I cannot see if it is a bolt or a friction pin. Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks, Terry
