Hi Mick and all,
Bought at lovely HRH roller for personal use. Got it cheap as it wasn't driving. Only 2015 and used by homeowner. Stripped the rollers off and it was clear issue was the roller bearings had seized. So decided to strip down gearbox as oil seal was leaking and to change dog clutch. I'm replacing oil seals and the spline bearings too. Can anyone please confirm what weight of transmission oil Honda recommends (80w-90?)

Absolute pain by the way. The amount of stone chips and sand blasting has eroded the casing of the transmission to the point that the housing around the seal is literally disintegrating. So had to buy new transmission casing (both sides😢).

We found nowadays once you have to start fitting parts to one of these gearboxes it was nearly as cheap to fit a whole gearbox.

Think we use a SEA80 gear oil.  But I believe a 80w90 is recommended.

Thanks, Mick. Yes I think they are around 5 centuries new. I've paid nothing like that as I had the splines and the bearings " in stock". I had the Hayter 48 60v which was great but too small. Sold that as preordered a Hayter 56 Pro-e but it has been delayed so the HRH will see me through this summer.

500 seems a tad steep Tim, think the last one I changed was little over £300 and the parts needed were that much if not a little more.

+ a clutch cable because I always advise changing it when doing a gearbox rebuild or fitting a new box.  The cable is one of the major causes of gearbox failure on these.

Handy that you had some of the parts though, a good excuse to use them up. ;)
