Well I've had a nightmare with this for 9 months now, and my garden has been I'd say not cut but felled once since last year.
Ok here's what I got my self into and I'm no stranger to mechanical machines.
The original engine on my dx70 ride on mower seized last September due to an unseen oil leak ( crack in casting ), so I stripped old engine and parts made it uneconomical back then to repair. So I tried to source a 8.5 brigs and Stratton engine, they were very expensive and looked complete basket cases in most adds.
So I found a 11hp B&S as I looked the same, well the mounts lined up but the engine was bigger.
Then I went away an holiday came back and was ill, so fast forward to this year and I had shoulder nerve problems making any shed work impossible.
So in June I bit the pain barrier and used my emergency spare mower a freebie that cuts and cuts, but not meant for 12" grass like I have and it took 2 weeks to get it cut and battered.
Mower had been in shed since last year so tore into it literally, I fitted all the parts I could find and springs where I remembered went. The engine meant the fuel tank had to be moved it's now behind the drivers seat, the engine runs but no acceleration as the choke cut in to early, also one jet in the carb was solid so I bought a new carb and it run great
Cut grass to make sure it worked and it ground to a halt, got it back in shed and it started ok I had to alter the govenor cut in to get the revs back in line with the throttle pedal.
Now I found a spring and I must go somewhere, I found the throttle pedal made the brake pedal move as well.
So more investigation and the brake cable was loose but connected so I looked at this and the disc brake works, but the cable was still lose with the brake pedal was depressed.
At this time I found a black piece of plastic which matched the one I found earlier in the grass, it looks about 3" dia and the outer is square
This is where I am at now, still having MRI scans still looking for a cause of my shoulder problems
