Hi,
I have a hayter envoy 36 electric lawnmower.
Sometimes it would start and sometimes it wouldn't. Thinking there was a loose connection, I undid the switch control unit. There was no loose connection but the spring fell out. Can anyone tell me how to replace the spring to get it working again please?
Regards
Duane

Hi Duane, and welcome to TGMForum.

I moved your post to a separate topic. ;)

These switch units are supplied as a none serviceable assembly, although you can actually take them apart, as you already discovered.

The spring is a bit difficult to explain, I take it's the one that returns the lever to the off position.  You should see how it sits under the lever pivot one end hooks onto the case, and the other end into a groove on the lever itself.

Regarding the intermittent running. It's quite common for the orange lead to have a broken wire where it starts to go into the switch housing. so you'll need to check that.  Also the little lever that comes out of the switch unit can develop a crack and this can also cause intermittent or not work at all, it was a known issue.

If the wire is broken It will be a case of cutting back that wire and refitting, or fit a new switch assembly.  The latter is not easy because you have to remove the whole top cover, (I mean the big cover that goes from front to back of the machine).  Or cheat and rewire your old motor lead into the new switch unit.
