New carb arrived today, along with the "carb repair kit".. annoyingly they had included an incorrect gasket, - i was able to add the additional breather hole myself, and impressed they got the parts to me within 24 hours of ordering.

Good news Folks! I got it running with the air filter on.. albeit briefly as i'd turned my added fuel valve off  ..However it did run!
I do need to adjust the revs, so will need the explore the mechanics of the "throttle control rocker. However i do need to put back on an original diameter fuel line first as i could only find a smaller diameter hose to hand.

Bad news is that the a piece of the recoil assembly broke off and was rubbing against the fan (thankfully a simple fix to sort that awful noise) but will have to work on how to bridge that gap, as i don't want the rope getting caught in the fan.
(or just buy a new one for £8)

I also adjusted the ignition coil which made it a whole lot easier to start...

All in all a productive day, and with the end in sight i should end up with a decent mower.

I've previously purchased an Air compressor from then (they run a number of tools websites, all based in Haverford West) it described as "Graded" but on arrival it was only the box that was damaged.- saved myself almost 30% and still runs perfectly. (hence my Hyundai mower purchase)

Having re-watched the video, i noticed that there is a spring under the throttle, that is missing from the one i have, so it looks to have had a replacement carb fitted, it's also missing a gasket, so both have been ordered.
It's sad that the parts have cost more than the mower! but this should hopefully put it back into original condition, and give me a decent mower for years to come... and it's still cheaper than a similarly used machine, just hopefully no more surprises...

Part of the issue is that this carb doesn't appear to have a fuel mixture adjustment. There is an idle jet, and idle screw, but no fuel mixture according to other forums.
The float and needles seems to be ok, with no cracks, and moves freely.

Thanks for the reply...and didn't think of that! I was already planning on doing an oil change for fresh oil, as and not sure what is in there at present, although it does look very clean.

Just picked up a used HYM430SP, the seller said "it only runs without the air filter"...but it runs, so will do for the garden 
I had a proper look at it today,and dismantled the carb (nothing obvious there) it is definately running rich as there is fuel spitting out of the air filter housing...

I also discovered the rear of air filter was warped and a so a second gasket was added. (ordered a replacement, and flattened the one i have)
I'm was thinking of putting in an inline fuel filter (as i couldn't spot one anywhere) and also a smaller diameter fuel line, or shut off valve - to limit the fuel to the carb. However i'd really like to solve the issue the "proper" way so looking for any advice on how to fix the issue.

Just a quick intro, and firstly i'm not that green fingered..however i do love tinkering with things, and mowers are a great way to spend a day in the garage! I've always bought second-hand since and my old Husqvarna R147SE has finally gotten to old to be worth repairing, so i've just bought a used Hyundai HYM430SP, which for the money was a steal, it came with a known issue, but liking the price of spares for this over the Husqvarna...So looking forward to learning a bit more about the best way to keep the mower going.
