Other Lawnmowers / Re: Efco versus Husqvarna

If it's not too late.
Not an efco fan myself, build quality is less than the Husqvarna, but Husqvarna are so slow to get parts out sometimes.

Fitted the "repair kit" to an MS201t, no difference in performance, advanced the timing and opened up the muffler and it was like a different saw.
No bogging down anymore and a happy customer.

Lawn mowers / Re: Variable speed verses fixed speed

Too true.

That's a nice trick, thanks I'll check that tomorrow.

To me it sounds like a blocked exhaust, neither lean nor rich. More like the engine is suffocating on its own gases. Or like when somebody crams it full of grease and the blades can't turn.

I only heard it mess about for the first time today as I've not been able to recreate the issue myself until this afternoon.

So carried out the other repairs after being told it won't rev up, after visual inspection and pressure testing found issues. So thought that it was cured until it came back today.

Also, that was supposed to say rev up. Not regret in the title. Damn autocorrect

Ooh, I'm pretty certain it's an 81r.

Chainsaws and Pole pruners / Re: STIHL MS200T vs 201T
November 01, 2018, 06:24:57 PM
The 201 has a "repair kit" which comprises of new flywheel, carb, ignition module and linkage.

Fit that, open up the muffler and advance the timing and it becomes an alright saw.

But from stock the answers no.

Just another gimmick to help the sales bods push mowers.

A bit like pussy pull (stihls ergo start). If you're not strong enough to start the saw. You shouldn't be using it.

Hedge Trimmers / Cutters / Hs81 won't rev up once warm
November 01, 2018, 06:02:24 PM
Hi everyone,

Please, please, please help me on this one!

HS81 once warm bogs down under full throttle.

Sounds like a blocked exhaust/ stuck blades. But only does it after about 10-20 minutes of use.
Tick over is unaffected.

Will be fine again once cool.

So far it has had a new fuel pipe from filter to carb as the old one had a split.
A new tank breather. New spark plug.
Pressure tested and found a leak from the crankcase so that has been resealed.
A needle bearing had failed on the lower gearcase.

When apart I blew through the exhaust and it seemed clear, piston and cylinder looked in good nick.

Any thought and suggestions muchly appreciated.

Never had any real trouble with the Briggs auto chokes.
But the honda ones, geez them things drive me up the wall.

Honda / Re: Honda HRX 476

Local honda dealer has told a couple of my customers they need new gearboxes when all that's gone is that pin.
But never seen one where through before

Weibang / Re: Weibang Lawnmowers.

Haha, sounds like you see a fair few different mowers. I've only seen a handful of sanlis, and one marina.
Where are you based Mick?

Weibang / Re: Weibang Lawnmowers.

Thank's Mick, I'll pass that on.

These sorts of brands make me nervous anyway, Sanli and Marina came to mind when I first saw the Weibangs, which isn't a good thing.

Is that on the legacy pro 56?

I have a contractor sick of replacing Honda gearboxes and is thinking of going to one of these.

Ain't that the truth. Take the Mountfields from 20 years ago, completely different machines. And I cringe to see the union flag on the modern chinese Webb's.

But what do you recommend to people?

I can't think of a single manufacturer where the quality hasn't crashed over the last 10 years.

Apart from maybe Honda?
But then again you can't buy a genuine Honda ride on anymore.
